The City and Booyeembara Park Working Group are delighted to present the new Booyeembara Park playground which was unveiled last week.

The unique playground design includes a five– way swing, ‘tubano drums’ and ‘eye chimes’.

Children from the White Gum Valley Pre Primary school chanced upon workers putting the final touches to the stage two of the Booyeembara Park play area while on a “natural” and “man made” walking excursion.

They were delighted in being the first to try out the new five way swing, ‘tubano drums’ and ‘eye chimes’ that the Booyeembara Park Working Group wanted installed in favour of standard ‘plastic’ equipment.

The playground was designed by the City of Fremantle working in conjunction with the Booyeembara Park Working Group and local community and included new shade sails which were at the time being tested before being removed and stored for the winter.

The project was quite a challenge due to the site being installed over what was once a limestone outcrop, then a limestone quarry and then a landfill site.

The Booyeembara Park Working Group are delighted with the results and looking to further enhancements in the park this year and planning the remaining stages of works for future years.
