THE SAILING CITY OF FREMANTLE OFFERS OCEAN ADVENTURE TO YOUNG LOCALS

This is a  press release that went out today for sponsored places on the Leeuwin
Young lucky locals have the opportunity of a lifetime to sail aboard Fremantle’s resident tall ship Leeuwin II on a fully covered scholarship.
The City of Fremantle is offering several fully sponsored places, valued at $1980, on a Leeuwin voyage in 2014.
Fremantle residents and students attending a school, TAFE, university or youth service in the city, aged 14-25, have the chance to be awarded a berth on a 2014 ocean adventure.
City of Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said, “There is no doubt that a sail on the Leeuwin is one of those life changing experiences that as many young people as possible should take up.”
“The City is really proud to offer this opportunity and we encourage all young people in Fremantle to apply,” he said.
The lucky recipients will join up to 40 other young people from across the state on their seven-day journey and take part in all aspects of sailing a working tall ship, from climbing the 33-metre main mast, galley duty, and taking the helm, to scrubbing the decks, standing watch at night and witnessing the amazing scenery and nature the WA coast has to offer.
Applications are due in by 5pm next Friday the 25th of October.
To apply for this amazing opportunity entrants are encouraged to contact the City of Fremantle on 9432 9999 or download an application form from http://www.fremantle.wa.gov.au
