It’s going to be a fun Street Arts Weekend

Following yesterday’s April Fools fun (just to confirm City of South Swan really was a joke) Freo will really ramp up the fun from Easter Saturday to Monday with the an amazing looking 2015 Fremantle Street Arts Festival. The City of Freo team have put together a world class range of street performers so fill you pockets with change and come down.

Here is how the West’s Stephen Bevis wrote about it today:

Fiery duo in Fremantle Street Arts Festival debut

Some of the world’s best street performers will throw their hats on Fremantle footpaths this weekend.

Among the international acts at the Fremantle Street Arts Festival will be Zap Circus, the fire-eating, acrobatic and juggling duo from the port city who have not taken part in the annual Easter event previously.

“We’ve been travelling around the world every time it’s been on and this is our first time not only seeing it but being in it,” Rusty Hammond said.

With partner Tarrabelle Murphy, Hammond has taken Zap Circus to more than 30 countries.

“We perform in festivals like this all over the world but we’ve never performed here,” he said.

“All of our friends in Canada or America or England, they’re like, ‘Oh, you guys live in Fremantle, you have a brilliant festival, we love the Freo Street Arts Festival’.”

Other acts over the three days from Saturday include Cuban band El Son Entero, Dutch sand-writing robot Skryf, roaming Spanish scavengers The Rats, comic band Ole, water-balloon clowns Waterbombs, stilt-walker Lurk and Japanese boom-box painter Yukinko Akira.

They will appear at various times at 10 performance sites.
