Is White Gum Valley leading the way in Disrupting Australia’s Energy System?

It was great to see a development in little old White Gum Valley get nationwide press this week for its leadership in distributed solar and storage.

This was in part because Federal Environment Minister Greg Hunt was in town to announce the Commonwealth’s green energy fund ARENA has tipped $1 million into a micro-grid project in White Gum Valley. The $3 million project will have solar panels and batteries installed across four separate apartment developments. Read The West’s full report on it here:  https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/wa/a/31335712/apartments-set-for-solar-world-first/

For those of you wanting some more in depth background on this I highly  recommend Linda Blagg’s latest video with Peter Newman and Jemma Green as an informative start. It is called  ‘Distributed Solar and Storage: Disrupting Australia’s Energy System’

Best to acknowledge Prof of Sustainability, Greg Morrison, Curtin University in this process, as he is the expert actually referred to in ARENA’s grant announcement. Credit where credit is due.
