This week’s new Freo business of the week is actually Freo’s oldest: Culley’s.

I think that Culley’s Tea Rooms (est 1925) in Fremantle’s Street Mall might be the longest continually operating retail business in Fremantle. And this week some history happened. After almost 100 years in the same shop, Culley’s have moved … next door!

As part of the Atwell Arcade redevelopment Culley’s have a swish new home on the West side of the soon to be reinstated Atwell Arcade entrance. I imagine Michael and his team will be both pleased and relieved to see this come to fruition. I think the new fit-out looks great. And I think this is worthy of bending the rules for new Freo buses of the week.

Pop in and check out the next iteration of this iconic Fremantle institution.

Here’s to the next 92 years.

  1. Love a good Culleys pie.

What a petty a floor to ceiling glass frontage. At street level a shopping center defying the pin stripe pointed bricks of a neat restoration Victorian. however it compliments the out of era awning. . Why do we have a heritage officer on a high salary? why, so easy to do properly
